Job Title : Weld Testing Manager Job Type: Permanent Hours : 40 per week Job Location : Manchester As a Weld Testing Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all tasks associated with weld testing contracts are completed to the required standards and deadlines as defined by the quality procedures and contractual requirements. Working in the role of Weld Test Manager, you will undertake technical training of weld department staff, as well as ensuring that equipment is properly maintained, safety checks and calibrations are completed on time and in line with company procedures. As a Weld Test Manager,you’ll receive a salary of between £40,000 and £50,000, depending on experience, plus you’ll benefit from a retail discount scheme, pension scheme and life cover. YOUR PROFILE Skills / Experience: Essential Understanding of business requirements in a fast paced and changing environment and responding to deadlines Effective interpersonal and communication skills Ability to motivate and influence positive outcomes Ability to organise people and workloads and able to prioritise tasks Excellent attitude to timekeeping and attendance record Presenting and formal communication at any level Critical understanding of customer service excellence Knowledge of PED Extensive understanding and experience of non-destructive testing of welded joints Experience, understanding and practical application of welding technologies Production of certification relating to welder qualification Desirable Testing / Workshop industry related knowledge Familiarity with laboratory testing methods Market knowledge Qualifications: Essential O/GCSE level education or equivalent HNC and / or formal qualification in welding technology Inclusion on company register of approved invigilators through successful completion of written in-house exam and accompanied on-site invigilation of a joining procedure or qualification Attended a PED awareness course Advantageous PCN Level 2 in Weld Inspection Qualification as an International / European Welding Specialist Registration as an Engineering Technician with the UK Engineering Council Degree educated in relevant discipline Achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status ABOUT SGS SGS is the global leader and innovator in inspection, verification, testing and certification services.
