Overview

The Vacancy Connex Education require a SENDCO, or senior SEN teacher, for a leadership role, working as SENDCO and Head of English as an Additional Language (EAL) at a mixed 11-16 school of approximately 1,100 students, located in Leicester. Senior teaching, or school leadership experience and specific experience of working with Secondary aged SEN students and EAL are essential for this role, which commences in September 2020. The School This is a city school where the vast majority of students speak English as an Additional Language, with Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Somali the largest ethnic groups. The percentage of students with a statement of Special Educational Needs, or Disability (SEND) are above average at School Action and below average at School Action Plus. The school boasts an impressive, modern campus with state-of-the-art facilities and technologies, which are evident in all classrooms, lab’s, suites and indoor and outdoor sports areas. A dynamic and innovative curriculum is offered, where students chose 4 specialisms in addition to core subjects from Year 9 upwards.
