Head of Faculty - Science

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic Head of Science with strong teaching practice to take on responsibility for driving improvement within the Science faculty. The successful candidate will have an ability to inspire, enthuse and engage teachers; additionally, they will develop and coach leaders within the department. The Science Faculty at Oxford Spires Academy aims to create a culture of inquiry, learning and achievement. Our main focus is quality teaching and learning and are proud to be recognised as an innovative team who work together to develop thought provoking lessons which support our students in achieving excellent outcomes. The team is well balanced between the three science disciplines and has a strong ethos within it of positivity, innovation in the classroom, cooperative working, mutual support and friendship. Science has become one of the highest achieving subjects in the Academy obtaining the best results in terms of progress and attainment at KS4 for the last two academic years. It is an increasingly popular choice at A Level – we have in the last two years expanded from a one to two A level class per year group in all four A Level science options.
