Planning and Regulatory Solicitor- Public Sector- Lancashire- Part-time (3 days p/w) up to £23,800benefits Your new company A large and reputable public-sector organisation is seeking a qualified solicitor / lawyer / barrister / CILEx to join their close knit in-house legal team on a permanent basis. Excellent central location, close to the train station and shopping centre, and a great opportunity to join a friendly and collegiate team. You will get exposure to a diverse caseload and get the opportunity to make a real mark by working and advising on important projects and developments. The part-time role (3 days a week) attracts a salary of up to £23, 800 depending upon experience together with 17 days per year. Your new role As an in-house planning and regulatory solicitor, you will conduct all types of contentious and non-contentious planning matters under the Planning Acts; such as section 106 agreements, section 215 notices and other related agreements as well as other related legislation and planning enforcement matters. Conducting litigation in Criminal Courts and Civil Courts in relation to planning and environmental issues will also be amongst the caseload. As a legal counsel to the organisation, you would also provide legal advice and support to colleagues within other departments of the organisation relating to public inquiries pertaining to planning issues. Drafting, negotiating, legal research, instructing counsel, liaising with third parties and taking part in internal conferences are all part of this exciting role. A motivated and committed lawyer will thrive working within a high calibre legal team. Interviews will be held as soon as practicable and the start date would be as soon as possible too. What you'll need to succeed Welcoming applications from solicitors / barristers /FCILEx / any qualified legal advisors /counsel who are keen to do varied and fast-paced casework in a public-sector organisation. You will need to understand and assimilate information quickly, provide sound legal advice and develop strong professional relationships. You must have good analytical skills, good research skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, excellent drafting and legal research skills, with a record of working to high professional standards. Experience of working within a public-sector organisation or any local government legal experience will be highly desirable. Experience of dealing with town and county planning matters and being involved in planning committee meetings will be highly desirable.
