Overview

L’Arche has an exciting opportunity fora Female Personal Assistant to join the team in Liverpool. You will be supporting a lady in her 40’s at home with her family and supporting her to attend her day opportunities centre. You will join on a part time, permanent basis working 15 hours per week - evening and weekends required with opportunity for overtime, and in return you will receive a competitive hourly rate plus benefits. As our Female Personal Assistant, you will receive the following benefits: What we offer: - 28 days paid holiday (including bank holidays) given in the first year, rising to 33 days in the second year- pro rota - Essential Medical care courses (where required) - Guaranteed Contracted Hours Paid Over Time - Paid Induction &Shadowing & training - Excellent employee support and benefits- Employee Assistance Programme - DBS paid for - QCF Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care supported - Career progression and personal development opportunities Responsibilities as our Female Personal Assistant include: - Provide help with all aspects of personal care including assisting with meal times, administration of medication, washing and dressing - Have a positive approach to supporting the individual on their dementia journey to maintain relationships and activities - Be able to support the individual when they experience epileptic seizures - Help the individual to maintain aspects of their domestic lives including tidying of bedroom and bathroom - Engage in social activities and attending the day opportunities centre - Complete recording documentation relating to each visit - Liaise with family, friends, advocates, external agencies and the management team to provide a consistent approach that meets the needs of individual - Empathise and actively listen in a sensitive manner accessing appropriate additional support where necessary - Support the individual in accessing appropriate health care provision in partnership with family - Adhere to regulatory standards What we’re looking for in hour Female Personal Assistant : - Minimum 12 months of experience in working with adults who have learning/multiple disabilities living in the community - Experience of supporting people with dementia - Physically fit and able to undertake safe manual handling practices - Ability to liaise with outside agencies and other professionals - Ability to work autonomously and productively as part of a team - All applicants must be prepared to work on a rota basis. Hours will include weekends, evenings, bank holidays - Knowledge of food hygiene/manual handling/health & safety standards and practices - Passionate about working with People with Learning Disabilities - Somebody who is honest, has integrity, is hardworking, promotes dignity, respect and equality - Ability and willingness to work in a person centred approach including working in agreed practice with support team and family - Bubbly, outgoing, confident, adaptable and committed to supporting a person on their dementia journey - Being a driver is preferred but not essential Although grounded in the Christian tradition, L'Arche Communities welcome people of all faiths and none: our vision is a world where all belong.
