POSITION: Software Developer Team Lead SALARY: £70K based on experience HOURS: 37.5 LOCATION: Plymouth, PL6 7TL DESCRIPTION: Our client was founded in 1999, and today comprises 60 people. The company is an award-winning, growing software business, the largest in the South-West. Customers range from the public sector to private sector brands. Due to continued success the company is looking for a Software Developer Team Lead. You will be a dedicated and ambitious leader of an agile team of developers. Working with Project Managers, Business Analysts, UCD / UX Experts and Network Support Engineers, you will work collaboratively to deliver a powerful platform that other applications and websites can be built on top of. The team delivers a complex extensible application used by all clients, supporting 1000's of users and millions of citizens across the UK and beyond. JOB ROLE (not limited to): Reporting directly to the CEO you will be working on a large-scale digital platform that powers many high-profile websites and applications, using many technologies (JAVA, .NET, JavaScript (node.js) and more), meaning that you can really showcase your skills. You will be producing a platform that operates at scale (10,000's or more users per client), with horizontal scalability within a multi tenanted environment to the highest security standards. You will be selecting, evaluating and extending technology components to work as a unified platform of services, managing the conflicting user requirements and motivating the team to deliver the highest quality work. The role will incorporate all aspects of the platform from designing and delivering API's, specifying and building backend services all the way to the delivery of front-end services. You will be responsible for maintaining an extensive heavily used codebase including refreshing and improving where required. You will collect input and work with the CEO to produce a cohesive vision for the platform, prioritising and delivering against that vision. You will research and develop new and innovative services from idea to delivery and ensure ongoing incremental improvements for all existing clients as well as implementing amazing features to attract new business. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The company is looking for an experienced team leader with excellent software engineering background. You should be a real problem solver with strong technical skills and a flexible approach to technology. You are an accomplished developer with a good understanding of many languages both OO and functional programming styles. You are also a great people manager who can motivate and enthuse a team. You have a good understanding of system design and the ability to orchestrate systems and workflows as well as having a good knowledge of web services and the use of API's. You have experience of working with dynamic web applications. You understand good design principles such as the separation of concerns. Experience of automated testing would be beneficial. A degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related discipline, and/or industry experience in a relevant field.
