Overview

Our client, a UK food and drinks manufacturer are looking to expand their team with a Business Development Manager to support and grow their co-manufacturing and outsourcing operation. Based in the North West this is very much a service led role, not a product led one and the remit it to sell the service and capacity to relevant business organisations. With this in mind this position is very much performance driven rather than sales driven. It is essential that you a familiar with the co-manufacturing or outsourced model. At the very least, strong knowledge of co-packaging is a doable alternative. This is because the remit is to source new business opportunities, see where the value lies for all parties, support an exceptional level of service delivery and ultimately ensure full cohesion between businesses in order to build solid, long term partnerships. This Business Development Manager role requires a good level of commercial acumen, sound ability to build rapport at all levels (right up to C-suite) and the capacity to strategically deal with major players within the food and drink industry. We are looking for someone who has a genuine desire to be the best in class, build a successful division, work closely with the Head of Outsourcing and knows the co-manufacturing/outsourcing food and drinks market well. Main duties to include: Identifying and actively targeting new major opportunities both within a specified portfolio of existing customer accounts and with new prospects. This will include potential opportunities both in the UK and abroad Working closely with Head of department to ensure sales revenue and profit objectives are achieved within relevant timescales Introduce potential new partners based around Production, Marketing and Sales of agreed Brands Source and review realistic and credible opportunities for consideration and appraisal by the relevant Management Teams Work closely with Supply Chain to understand constraints that may impact on customer supply and communicate the specific needs of individual customers as appropriate to relevant departments within the business Working with the Sales Director and Head of Outsourcing to agree annual operating budgets for sales volume, costs, margins Monitor performance of new business and take remedial action where needed Recommendations for action to enable annual budget to be achieved The ability to identify new opportunities to add value and innovation for business and customers We are looking for: Business Development experience within the Co-manufacturing, Outsourcing or Co-packing space Knowledge of packaging formats and specifications Strong solution sell background Solid negotiation skills Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility for the role and bringing on accounts Track record of establishing key account relationships and growing business Motivated to deliver, with an innovative approach Commercially astute Ability to travel abroad occasionally Relationship builder with resilience and a positive approach In return you can expect: Circa 45-50k salary Annual Bonus 22 days holiday Stats Car/car allowance Laptop, phone Subsidised lunches Health cash plans Contributory pension If this job isnt quite right for you but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion on your career.
