If you are seeking an exciting challenge then this is the role for you As a buyer you will play a key role in a team of experienced specialist that are responsible for managing the procurement of a portfolio of materials, goods or services for the group, optimising cost, cash, quality and service. Drive added value through sourcing strategically, value engineering, innovation delivery and risk management. The role: Work with key internal stakeholders to deliver Group Purchasing objectives. Escalation of roadblocks to line manager for support. Procurement of a portfolio of materials, goods or services within a category. With line manager develop and implement appropriate sourcing strategies based upon business requirements. Deliver KPI's relating to cost, cash, quality, service and continuity of supply for the portfolio. Identification, quantification and communication of COP or COS (cost of service) reduction ideas to business teams for implementation. Escalation of roadblocks to line manager for support. Work with suppliers to deliver the innovation strategy for the portfolio. Escalate roadblocks to line manager for support. Continuously gather and analyse market intelligence, working with line manager as appropriate to amend sourcing strategies. Feedstock and market assumptions translated into annual budget and quarterly reforecast of portfolio spend. Assumptions documented. Minimise risk to continuity of supply by carrying out supplier risk assessments for the portfolio's suppliers and implementing corrective actions as required. Ensure supply agreements are based upon formal legal T&C's. Escalate roadblocks to line manager for support. Portfolio spend within a category, typically 2% to 5% of turnover. Performance impacts, supply chain performance and overhead budgets through; prices, continuity of supply, supplier quality, service performance, timely innovation, and conditions/Processes. Will have a direct impact on overhead budget, sourcing strategy implementation, supplier selection & contracting, and supplier management. And functions impacted; commercial, supply chain, R&D, overall business for indirect. (Re)tender of portfolio requirements, price negotiation and defence of inflation. Supplier risk assessment and risk mitigation actions, also should be able to escalate roadblocks to line manager for support. Essential experience: Must be able to identify, understand and quantify problems arising. Recognise when able to resolve, and when appropriate to escalate. Also with support from manager if necessary, when appropriate to communicate a problem to internal stakeholders, and not hide a problem because of concern for the consequences. Must be able to act appropriately as a key interface between the company and a number of external companies (suppliers) and should be capable to act across the whole group (factories, BU's, departments etc) The role also requires negotiation and persuading/influencing skills (internal and external stakeholders). Impact of these skills is directly linked to and/or overhead budgets. The candidate must be educated to appropriate level to be, numerate, a problem solver and a good communicator. Must have the knowledge/skills required for, negotiations, technical understanding of category materials or services and financial evaluation and forecasting. Must be IT literate and should have the working knowledge of SAP, spreadsheets and presentations. Candidate must also possess understanding of internal business knowledge, including understanding of Commercial Category and Regional Business Unit, and needs to ensure alignment of purchasing strategy for the portfolio. As well as the understanding of budget holder indirect procurement needs to ensure alignment of purchasing strategy.
