A Junior Software Developer is required to join the team servicing one of our defence clients embedded within their facilities to contribute to the design and development of software products and projects. Team working is key, and you will become a trusted member of a small software team that includes analysts, developers and testers and will add value to new and on-going projects. We are interested in candidate who has a BTEC Level 3 (or higher) in Software with some experience in industry or a degree in a Computer Science related subject and has completed a year in industry as part of a four-year course. The Role: The developer will work in a high tempo environment within a team which is building bespoke applications. To be considered for this role the applicant must demonstrate: A keen interest in software development and a willingness to learn current and new technologies Flexibility Responsibilities: Work as a junior software developer (.NET, C#, Windows toolsets). Under the guidance of a mentor, learn the process of developing and testing operationally focused software solutions, integrating these solutions within the new and existing architectures and supporting these over time. Undertake other tasks to support the team where required. Work as assigned by the team leader. Work closely with the product architect and testing teams. Comply with Company policies and procedures (including the Business Management System). Adhere to the MASS values. Skillsets: Awareness of current and emerging software technologies. Awareness of software design modelling e.g. UML and OOD. Awareness of modern relational database technologies such as SQL Server. Awareness of modern CM toolsets such as MS Team Foundation Server or GIT. Awareness of modern compiler frameworks and languages such as MS Visual Studio, C#, C++ and Java. Personal Competencies: Willing to work as part of an integrated multi-technology team. Appreciation, acceptance and adherence to the constraints of working on highly classified defence platforms. Successful applicants will be required to obtain Developed Vetting security clearance as part of this role. The role is for 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday based in Wiltshire but may involve occasional travel both within and outside of the UK.
