Clean Water Principal Modeller/ Team Leader
Overview
RPS Water has an opportunity for an experienced Clean Water Principal Modeller/Team Leader. The role is based in Albourne (near Brighton). Other locations are available including Bristol, Exeter, Abingdon and Derby however 2 days per week minimum would be required in the Albourne office. This is a permanent vacancy and will see you reporting to the Technical Manager. You would be responsible for the management of staff delivery on a wide variety of projects, predominantly in clean water modelling and associated studies.A key requirement of the role is to maintain and develop existing relationships with clients and ensure projects are delivered to time and budget. As the CW Modelling team leader, you will manage a team of project engineers and data analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy development to our Water Industry clients to support business planning and delivery in addition to: · Line management of the clean water modelling team. · Leading and mentoring modelling project teams on the delivery of clean water modelling projects. · Delivering project outcomes, including profit targets, through effective Project management of modelling studies. · Identifying potential new projects and clients and progressing leads with the Technical Manager. · Preparation of proposals and tenders. · Ensuring accurate and efficient delivery of projects for various clients. · Application of clean water network models for infrastructure design projects. The key purpose of this team is to use our deep expertise to solve problems that matter to our clients. We help them understand the performance of their assets and meet their regulatory requirements by carrying out projects such as Sustainable Economic Investment Planning, support to Water Resource Management Plans, assessment of the Benefits from New Technologies and development of Operational Targeting Tools. We also help clients develop their own procedures, processes and guidance. Main Responsibilities to include: • Leadership of modelling project teams delivering a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure projects, covering both technical and field-based work types. These include: - model construction and calibration - optioneering and analysis studies - development impact assessments - flow and pressure testing • Line Management of project teams with responsibility for: - day-to-day leadership and direction for team - workload planning and prioritisation - provision of technical direction and support - driving staff performance, motivation and career development • Maintaining and reporting on overall programme of work and associated resource demands. • Ensuring quality of modelling outputs and compliance with standards, specifications and governance requirements • Build, maintain and manage strong and collaborative working relationships with clients • Developing and improving relationships and collaboration with other internal RPS modelling teams • Accountable for commercial performance, forecasting and risk management, and the production of bids and proposals • Continual improvement of modelling tools, procedures and processes to drive efficiency and innovation • Management of all health and safety, quality and environmental aspects of projects Skills, Experience and Qualifications required: · Ideally Degree or HND level qualified (or equivalent) in an engineering or geography related discipline, however experience carries a higher weighting than qualifications for this role. · Significant experience in modelling in InfoWorks WS, Synergi Water or similar · Prior experience in a similar role with the ability to co-ordinate and manage staff at all levels · Deep expertise in hydraulic modelling and/or related water or wastewater infrastructure areas · Proven leadership skills, showing the ability to improve organisational effectiveness and a culture of continuous improvement · Ability to build and motivate a team both internally and in partnership with external clients · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills · Self-motivated, self-disciplined and having the ability to work to tight deadlines · Chartered Membership (CIWEM, IOW, ICE or equivalent) would be an advantage · Hold a full clean driving licence What we offer you We will provide you with a flexible, friendly and creative environment to develop your skills and challenge yourself.We support our people to innovate, collaborate and build meaningful careers.
