Overview
Head of Risk Newcastle Under Lyme Upto £70K Dependant upon experience Working for a leading Fintech business - provider of credit and utilized by over 500 UK retailers and thousands of consumers. Consistent recent growth, and a determination to build a fully sustainable business with the interests of Customers and its Retailer partners at the heart of its operations, has led to the requirement for this new role. Winning multiple awards including No.3 in the Deloitte Fast 50, Prolific North Tech Awards Fintech Company of the Year 2020 and Tech Growth Business of the Year Awards 2020. ROLE The Head of Risk will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will be accountable for enabling the efficient and effective governance of significant risks, and related opportunities, to the business. It is seen as an exciting challenge for a risk professional who may have gained broad experience in a financial institution and is seeking to take more direct responsibility for managing risk in a Fintech environment. The risks that you will be expected to manage will be categorized as strategic, reputational, operational, financial and compliance related. RESPONSIBILITIES For maintaining the companies risk management practices To ensure that the risk register, including risk and control assessments, risk appetite and risk measures are clearly defined and maintained To support and assist business users to identify, classify and rate their key risks To develop and implement policies and procedures for the identification, classification, mitigation and analysis of risk To support and assist stakeholders in the identification of new risks Develop the process and systems required to operate the controls Manage one direct report QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE A graduate exhibiting strong business acumen garnered from extensive use of a degree in business, law, finance, risk management or a related field A minimum of 8 years of financial services experience in risk oversight roles covering credit, strategic, reputational, operational, financial, and compliance related matters Proven experience in implementing and managing Enterprise Risk Management strategy and governance, risk and compliance activities Practical knowledge of consumer and commercial lending origination and portfolio management strategies Strong people management skills with proven leadership abilities that motivate both direct and indirect teams to perform at their best Ability to work within an environment that is entrepreneurial and innovative Be able to utilise a common-sense approach with sound judgement and provide clear direction Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, expectations and business impacts Demonstrated high level of integrity and trustworthiness Superior communication, interpersonal and presentation skills Integrity and a desire to do the right things for the right reason's Able to deal with complexity and ambiguity and see the bigger picture It would be a bonus if you also had: Experience in a Fintech environment or Risk Management covering an IT intensive operation would be an advantage A formal Risk Management professional certification
