Overview
Are you a newly qualified accountant with a background in public practice? Are you looking for your first move into industry, or do you already have 1-2 years’ experience in industry following your public practice career? Transparent is working on an exclusive basis with an incredibly high-growth business based in Bishop’s Stortford. The business sits within a genuinely exciting industry, working with well-recognised global brands. Due to the company’s exponential growth, a new vacancy has been created. In your role as Assistant Financial Controller, you would support the Financial Controller across the board. This would be an ideal role in which to gain further experience, and to ultimately step up into the position of Financial Controller, as the current FC takes up the position of Finance Director. Working in modern offices and overseeing a team of 2, your role would encompass the following: - Learning and taking responsibility for the day to day finance operations of the business - Ensuring daily/weekly/monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet control accounts - Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts - Assist with year-end audit, and statutory accounts - VAT returns - Assist the FC with development of the new accounting system, processes and controls - Developing accounting procedures in line with the new system to ensure adequate financial controls exist within the business - Contribute towards timely and accurate management reporting, in order to have clarity and to continue to drive business growth As mentioned, this role would suit someone from a practice background. The role will involve a fair amount of reconciliation work; the business operates 20 different bank accounts around the globe. It will also require someone who has previously overseen members of a team, as there are 2 other individuals to manage, a Finance Analyst and an Accounts Assistant. In return, our client offers a clear and progressive path into that of Financial Controller. They are also offering a competitive base salary together with healthy annual pay reviews, plus an annual bonus based on revenue (discretionary). Their standard working hours are 08.30-17.30 Monday to Friday, however, there is flexibility around the start and finish times.
