Overview

Tax Senior - Exeter, Devon We are currently looking for an experienced Tax Senior to join an Accountancy Practice based in Exeter, Devon. As a Tax Senior, your responsibilities will include: Complex corporate tax compliance R&D tax credit claims Corporate finance transaction tax advisory and due diligence Corporate reconstructions / demergers etc Family Business succession planning Equity incentives and Employment Related Securities EIS / SEIS related matters International business direct taxes matters and structuring Ad hoc business tax advisory Complex direct tax HMRC enquiries Undertaking tax technical research for wider projects Undertaking a number of tax related administrative tasks Involvement with the business development and marketing efforts of the TAS team Undertaking client tax work by careful reference to and consistent with the firm’s procedures, to ensure all assignments are completed to a consistently high standard Assisting in the management of the assignment process, promptly notifying more senior TAS staff of issues/problems encountered throughout and assisting in their resolution Documenting work in a clear and concise manner, ensuring all working papers are legible, easy to follow and well presented Ensure that work is delivered on time and to budget Assisting with the management of work-in-progress, regular and timely billing on all allocated assignments Attending and recording in client / potential client meetings Involvement in internal and external presentations Ensuring all outgoing work is appropriately reviewed and authorised in accordance with the firm’s Tax Manual. Liaise with other departments as necessary on client affairs Skills and experience needed for the Tax Senior role: Previous experience in tax compliance preferred but not essential Either part way through study or newly qualified Some demonstrable technical knowledge either from experience or study Awareness of compliance standards imposed by the various regulatory authorities for tax and audit Commercially astute, with a keen analytical and problem-solving mind Organised and able to plan time efficiently in order to meet deadlines Ability to work independently, or as part of a team Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport quickly with clients Professional and discreet in demonstrating client care Exposure to providing a tax advisory service an advantage (but not essential) Previous experience of Alphatax would be useful Proficient in MS Office 2010 (ie.
