Overview
In a nutshell, you'll make sure that Aldi products get from the suppliers through to our distribution sites across the country, to keep pace with our amazing growth. This is about looking at the strategy to make sure every stage of the supply chain, right back to the source, works effectively. So you could be dealing with a supplier in Spain one week and Slough the next. You'll be trusted, encouraged and motivated to own an area of the supply chain and make the right decisions. It can be demanding, challenging and fast-paced. But if you're ready to apply yourself and keep improving, it can be hugely rewarding, too. We do things our own way at Aldi. But whatever we're doing, we must be getting it right. With a wave of impressive sales figures behind us, we're opening new stores at lightning speed. And without our Corporate Logistics team, there'd simply be no products in those stores. Salary: £53,485 - £77,870 DOE Working hours: 8am-6pm Monday-Friday (50 hours per week) With the introduction of our online offering in recent years, we have been able to increase our sales further through the Aldi website. This role is about looking at the strategy to make sure every stage of the supply chain, right back to the source, works effectively. You'll be trusted, encouraged and motivated to create a long term strategy for the eCommerce supply chain. It can be demanding, challenging and fast-paced. In addition to developing and managing our logistics service providers the Logistics Manager plays a vital role within the Corporate Buying Department. You will be responsible for leading a strong internal team and ensure constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of all levels. The focus of the role is to provide strategic direction and project management across the future logistics strategy project, with a focus on developing the eCommerce supply chain. This is a business wide role, working for the Corporate Logistics Director. The role will involve working closely with the business, the IT department and our 3rd party suppliers, ensuring projects are delivered on time in a controlled manner. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have strong previous experience in a similar role and must have experience of working in a large multi/omni channel business, leading teams of technical and business project managers. Key Responsibilities: • Leads, manages, develops and trains their Logistics Assistants and Logistics Administrators. • Develops and maintains constructive working relationships with external partners. Manages Aldi's partners within contract guidelines, ensuring performance is monitored and recorded to aid in continuous improvement. • Work with stakeholders to define project direction, budget and deliverables and to establish consensus and clear alignment at all levels. • Identifies, investigates and proposes cost saving opportunities within the supply chain and develops operational plans for implementation, while ensuring due diligence and stakeholder engagement. • Reviews proposed logistics routes for operational viability and cost effectiveness. • Resolves any service provision issues that may arise in consultation with the Corporate Logistics Director. • Works closely with other Logistics Managers to ensure consistency, alignment and efficiency where departments overlap and to continuously improve service and cost. • Ensures adherence to all legal requirements. Requirements: • 2:1 grade degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant field • Experience in a Logistics/Supply Chain or eCommerce management role • Project and people management experience • Experience of stakeholder management at all levels • An understanding of eCommerce supply chains • Experience of setting up an eCommerce strategy • Management of 3PL, Cost Savings, Budget Management • Experience within a retail business would be desirable Please note, if you are applying via a job site your CV will not be attached, therefore please ensure you complete the application form.
