Overview

A multi-office accountancy practice is looking for a Newly-Qualified Accountant/Account Manager to join their team in Orpington. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and carry out all aspects of accounts work by managing a team in respect of this. In addition, they will be required to attend networking events, be involved in meeting new potential clients and assisting the partner to grow the practice. They will work with clients in different sectors and will maintain and develop those relationships. The ideal candidate will have excellent personal skills and will report directly to the Partner. Experience/qualifications Recognised accounting qualification (such as ACA/ACCA) Recent experience working in an accountancy practice Strong technical skills Able to build and maintain excellent client relationships Managing staff Driving license required Responsibilities Managing the accounts team and making sure the appropriate staff are available. Planning jobs and contact clients to remind them when preparation work is due. Ensuring that recovery rates and budgets for jobs are adhered to by self and the team Managing the assignment as it proceeds, delegating and reviewing work of staff to ensure that standards are met. Providing timely feedback to partners on issues identified with clients. Presenting to the Partner a complete file with minimal review points. Keep time sheets up to date. Keep themselves technically up to date and ensure CPD requirements are met. Communicate with Partners and take necessary action if team members not performing to a consistently high level in line with their training and experience. Ensure end of job assignments, probationary reviews and annual appraisals carried out on time. Sign off daily timesheets for team members. Attend networking events and identify opportunities for business growth. Assist in the running of the client portfolio. Preparation of personal tax returns. Ability to work under pressure and cope with demanding deadlines. The above is not an extensive list and other ad hoc duties within the office will arise as part of the role. This is a full time, permanent position. Salary is dependent on experience but likely to be in the £40-45k range. The firm also provides 5 times death in service and medical insurance on passing 6 months’ probation period. CPD courses are paid for by the practice together with your annual qualification renewals.
