Overview

We are looking for an experienced support worker to join the care team and support all our learners. We provide education and care to college students with learning difficulties, autism and other associated conditions. The students’ ages range from 18 - 25 years and require a stimulating curriculum with opportunities to improve their academic and social skills within a nurturing environment to prepare them effectively for the adult world. The Support Worker will work within and supervise the team to support the students outside the classroom environment promoting the importance of education whilst assisting in the development of appropriate social skills. Becoming part of the team means working, sometimes on your own, with students who will test you, present behaviours that challenge and expose you to the more extreme reaches of support work at our home and requires support workers who are flexible with strong emotional resilience and skills in reflective practice. Our aim is to promote the inclusion of all learners ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to become as independent as possible. Our expectation is that all staff in learner facing roles will actively promote life skills and making choices. Main duties include; Positive and compassionate attitude towards Learners. Promoting the rights of residents to be treated with dignity and respect in every aspect of their lives. Respect the confidences of resident young people, except where to do so would result in harm to a resident, damage to the organization or the commission of a criminal offence. Promote the emotional health and self-esteem of residents, supporting them through changes in living circumstances and personal relationships. Support resident young people in making their own choices and decisions to the maximum of their capability, and ensure that the needs and wishes of residents are fully considered in any decision relating to them. Ensure the protection of residents from significant harm, by exercising vigilance, observing changes in the residents’ behavior or appearance, and complying fully with our Child/Adult Safeguarding policy.
