Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £38000 - £60000 per annum

Overview

Are you a commercial litigator with a proven academic record and a good grounding in contractual law? Are you looking to join a company where you can continue to hone your litigation skills but within more of a specialist environment? If so, this could be the role for you. Our client is a long established and successful company who is looking to recruit a skilled UK qualified Solicitor into their Newcastle office. The role is very varied and will cover a wide range of shipping disputes, many of which are governed by English law. This will also involve providing general legal support and assistance in charting, operational, insurance and other claims matters. You will be expected to handle a large number of cases which are often worldwide and in numerous jurisdictions, which will primarily involve contractual disputes but may extend to tortious and other liabilities. Due to the nature of the work there will be the requirement to work out of office hours including during the weekend and on public holidays as and when it is needed. Candidates who are between 1-6 years PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and experience to undertake the role, however, this has been given as an approximate guide and our client is happy to consider the applications of candidates who fall outside of this PQE range. Although this is a shipping litigation role, experience dealing with shipping law is certainly not essential as full training will be given. Due to the work on offer strong academics are important and candidates must have the ability to work under pressure as often there will be the need to provide advice within short time frames. Providing an excellent service to clients is important and so strong communication skills are also a requirement of the role. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a fantastic company with a market leading salary and superb benefits on offer Whilst the role is fast paced the firm place significant emphasis on well-being and work life balance, and this is at the heart of the business How to apply If you are interested in this role or would like to find out more about the opportunity, please contact Gavin Draper at Sacco Mann or another member of our Private Practice team.
