Overview

Modulr is a leading payments Fintech and we are looking for a Manager to lead our Second Line Risk & Compliance function. The role holder will play a key role in the Leadership team of the Risk & Compliance function with a direct reporting line into the Head of Risk & Compliance. Modulr has a strong team with extensive experience in payments, so you will have a chance to learn from some experts with a real passion for developing the business. The role requires a forward-thinking individual who can also recognise the value of finding innovative but robust ways of embedding a strong compliance culture that enables the business to continue to evolve and grow in a safe and sustainable way. What you will do Oversee and own the business wide Policy Framework ensuring it remains up to date, reflecting legal and regulatory requirements, and is available and accessible to all. As part of this programme own the content of the Financial Crime & Sanctions Policies Develop and maintain a strong enterprise wide risk assessment programme, considering how risk frameworks are developed and support the focus on those presenting the most material risks. Ensure the frameworks are effectively implemented across products and customers Develop a horizon scanning process with colleagues to manage changes in the external environment that impact modulr Embed a second line assurance model, co-ordinating with other elements of the three lines of defence and reflecting different depths of assurance reflecting risks Oversee Regulatory engagement with a specific focus on our lead regulators the FCA Accountable for the ongoing Governance framework and reporting content including Risk and executive board level About you You have experience in operating in a highly regulated environment, with experience in Financial Crime alongside a supporting qualification Demonstrable experience in managing key elements of second line function including Governance, Policy and risk management (including Issues Management) Leadership experience, with a focus on delivering through others and being able to influence people not under your reporting structure Recognise the importance of governance and quality in this highly regulated environment with a strong focus on quality of output and content Good communication and influencing skills, comfortable in being open to challenge but maintaining your position where appropriate You’re excited about the prospect of taking ownership of strategies, whilst ensuring that they evolve so that the programme continues to be aligned to the business’s growth plans. You’re structured and organised, able to handle the competing pressures of immediate tasks alongside longer term projects. You’re comfortable working in an early stage business, where time is critical, and things change frequently. You enjoy self-leading and working independently in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and sharing your ideas about how we can improve. You’ve a strong interest in FinTech and financial crime. Skills and experience we’re interested in A strong background in payments regulations and policy with an interest in designing risk management frameworks Great people and leadership skills recognising the importance of developing a high performing team Work across the business to maintain communication and awareness and work with external stakeholders (including Regulators) Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable the provision of a clear assessment of the effectiveness of Modulr’s control environment.
