Overview
Cabling Engineer Data cabling engineer to work predominantly within client data centres in Wakefield and Barnsley carrying out the Installation, termination and testing of copper CAT6A and pre-terminated fibre optic cabling systems. Work on other nationwide sites will be at times required and work will predominantly be carried out at night. Data Centres Installation, termination and testing of copper CAT6A systems Installation of fibre optic cabling (fusion splicing experience and advantage) Installation and testing of pre-terminated fibre optic cabling (OM3, OM4 and singlemode) Extensive use of fluke versiv test equipment Provide cover for moves and changes team Carry out cable recovery when required in all areas of the data centres under change controls. Installation and connectivity of network equipment Works outside Data Centres General cable installations on campus sites carrying out works as above. Attending to structured cabling faults on sites Must have the following Experience of data centre environment Experience of structured cabling systems (manufacture accreditation's advantageous) Network equipment connectivity and installation experience Knowledge of different data centre platforms (I-Series, Z-Series, SAN amongst others) PC literate - use of Microsoft office software Health and Safety awareness (ECS, SSSTS or IOSH certification advantageous). Understanding of the security required in a data centre. Vans may be available from Sheffield area but ability to get to sites in own vehicle is required.
