Weekend Practitioner (Young People with Homelessness) Permanent - Part time -16 hours over 2 shifts either an early shift or late shift, Saturday and Sunday Salary: £13.18 an hour and £10,971 per annum Holidays: 35 days Pro Rata Due to the coronavirus we have suspended all face to face client and candidate meetings but are still continuing to hire and to register candidates remotely utilising a range of technologies (video and telephone conferencing) to get the job done and we are still able to service our clients in Local Authorities, the Voluntary and Private sectors at this time to ensure we are able to deliver front line care and support services to our most vulnerable members of society. The Social Care Community Partnership are currently recruiting for a Young Peoples Homelessness Practitioner for the charity on an exclusively retained basis, Four Square, based in Edinburgh. This charity provides a service for young people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. The role of the Young People Homelessness Practitioner involves supporting service users overcome any problems they may have to build a stable life for themselves. This role has a weekend shift pattern of two 8 hour shifts per weekend - early shifts (7.45am to 3.45pm) and late shifts (2.00pm to 10.00pm). It is crucial that Practitioners are proactive, organised, can problem solve, be positive, be approachable, friendly, patient and confident. It is also important that practitioners have a good understanding of homelessness, trauma and adversity and how it impacts life outcomes. Key responsibilities Build positive relationships with service users. Help service users develop skills that will help them build the life they want i.e. communication skills, healthy coping skills, social skills and employment skills. Use a flexible approach to ensure service users are receiving the help they want. To undertake assessment and support planning in an inclusive and personalised way. Partnership working with other professionals to ensure a quality holistic approach. Qualifications and experience: Relevant SVQ 3 or other similar qualification or higher. Experience of working within safeguarding framework / working with vulnerable people. Experience as a keyworker and experience of completing casefiles. Must be able to undertake any other reasonable duties as directed (providing cover for colleagues). Must be able to attend conferences, seminars and training as required.
