Overview

Job Vacancy A vacancy has arisen for a social worker/mental health officer in the mental health team. The social work mental health team is located within a joint health and social care service, providing a medical/health and social work service to those with support needs arising from their mental health, in Midlothian. The social work section of the service is a small, close knit team with an excellent reputation providing a statutory community care service to patients and service users known to health colleagues. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a range of social work and care managing tasks including assessments, care plans, resource finding, report writing, reviews with patients and service users including those subject to statutory mental health interventions. This is a challenging and rewarding role providing the opportunity of working in an experienced mental health social work service within a multi-disciplinary community mental health team with close working links with the voluntary sector. The essential qualification for a Social Worker within the Mental Health Team is a degree in Social Work and registration with the SSSC. A Diploma in Social Work with SSSC registration is an acceptable alternative. Mental health experience is desirable but not essential but there is an expectation of interest in pursuing the MHO reward. This post is open to Mental Health Officers and/or Social Workers who are interested in pursuing the MHO award.
