Overview

Our client Walsall Council are looking for a Senior Commissioning Officer. 37 hours per week Main purpose of the job role: The Postholder will support the Commissioning Manager in defined areas of service and lead the process of change and development within that area, as well as supporting other Commissioners. Assist in the development and implementation of commissioning strategies for a specific service area; working in partnership with health and adult social care providers to build local capacity, ensure cost effective financial management and positive outcomes and good quality services for users, patients and carers. Abilities/Skills: A sound understanding of the legal, commercial, political, operational and social aspects of a similar, diverse and complex business environment Competent in communicating sensitive, confidential and complex information Ability to prepare and manage budgets Ability to prepare, collate and interpret reports/presentations/data for elected members and other stakeholders Ability to influence and negotiate change within own organisation Ability to work autonomously and under pressure Ability to make complex, critical decisions with skill An awareness of and commitment to equality of opportunity and diversity for staff and service users/carers/patients. Knowledge/Experience: Experience of working at an operational management level in a Health and/or Adult Social Care work environment or equivalent Record of successful management of change in a similar work environment Evidence of developing and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues and partners Evidence of experience of working locally to transform services in line with the Working Smarter Programme Experience of working across partnership boundaries e.g. Health/CCG, Children and Young People’s Services and other key stakeholders The ability to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English is essential for the post Qualification: Higher National Diploma in Health and/or Adult Social Care or equivalent Evidence of continuous professional development in a relevant area of work.
