Join us a Relief Support Worker covering the Bedfordshire area and you'll soon see why About the role You'll join us in offering care and support to people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, autism, dementia and complex health needs in and around the Bedfordshire area (Westoning, Flickwick areas) and any other areas in Bedford that may need additional help. You'll enable people to enjoy their lives, joining in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, providing care in a sensitive way. This is an opportunity to come into someone's life and be a positive influence on it, ensuring they can live as independently as possible in a residential setting. Due to age and the complexity of their learning disabilities, individuals require support with medication and personal care. There can sometimes also be behaviours that challenge but you will be given full training and support from day one. Some of our residential homes are situated in an idyllic Bedfordshire villages, so you will need to be a driver to get to the homes. Plus, you may also be required to drive the on site service vehicles. The shifts are worked on a rota basis covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. How Relief works The Relief (Bank) post will support the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave/sickness/training/unforeseen vacancies. As such, hours are non specific but the service will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible. Rotas will be available 6 weeks in advance. What we need from you Firstly, you don’t need experience to become a Support Worker but it’s not easy. The work can be demanding and challenging at times but no two days are the same and the reward of seeing YOUR personal impact is incredibly inspiring and it’s something you’ll never forget. As long as you have the passion and drive to want to make a real difference, we’ll teach you the rest. With your key attributes and our training, together we can deliver the best possible support. It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive service vehicles. You must also have a minimum of one year's driving experience for insurance purposes.
