Overview

Due to expansion, our client who is one of the UK's leading full-service law firms with offices in London, Wales, Thames Valley and the South Coast Region are seeking to recruit a new Paralegal within their Professional Regulatory team in Reading. Their Legal 500, tier 1 ranked regulatory team has a national profile, providing advice and assistance in all areas of professional disciplinary practice. The team comprises partners, barristers, solicitors and paralegals all of whom specialise in regulatory work, but who come from a mix of criminal and civil litigation backgrounds. Their client base continues to grow rapidly, and consequently excellent opportunities continue to arise within the business. Under the guidance of the solicitor and barrister case managers you will be undertaking a case investigator role, predominantly on behalf of national healthcare regulators such as the Nursing & Midwifery Council, General Dental Council, General Optical Council, and General Pharmaceutical Council. You will be conducting witness interviews, drafting witness statements and obtaining/preparing all hearing documentation in accordance with a case plan. You will also attend expert conferences and some substantive fitness to practise hearings. You will communicate extensively with witnesses, professional registrants, legal representatives and professional clients including the regulators' hearings managers. The person specification Law degree or other subject Previous legal work experience Good communication skills (verbal and written) Commitment to high levels of client care Confident and personable Well regarded in their current position Able to demonstrate a team working ethic Proactive Flexible IT literate Understands and complies with Information Security responsibilities commensurate with this role including Data Protection and the duty of confidentiality You must be well organised, used to working to tight timescales and possess highly effective interpersonal skills.
