Electronics Research & Development Engineer Sunbury on Thames Up to £40,000 per annum depending on experience Expo Technologies provides customers with an unrivalled level of support for the delivery of solutions to hazardous area applications in the global market. Using the latest design technology for our design work, we have over 70 staff focused on providing creative and cost-effective solutions for our customers. An opportunity has now arisen for a Research & Development Engineer to join our team. Job Purpose: Design and develop new products, from concept to commercial product. Develop existing products with the aim of maintaining/improving market share, reducing costs, and widening their scope of applications Your duties will include Analogue, digital and mixed signal circuit design PCB design and schematic capture Design in microprocessor-based environment Build, debug & fault diagnosis in terms of both hardware and firmware Design and development of production test equipment Generation of technical documents, eg. system design specification or design verification report Manage and coordinate product development projects Developing new technology for use in Expo products Prepare technical documentation for the product, including drawings, diagrams and descriptions where required Conduct design reviews and effective handover with operations to ensure information is timely, complete and correct to enable RFT manufacture Ensure that the product being designed is fit for purpose in terms of function and certification. This includes specification and selection of purchased components and where possible the use of approved suppliers Obtain relevant certification to show compliance with applicable standards Prepare the production file for the new product and ensure all provision is met that enables the product to be manufactured in accordance with regulations and standards. This includes test plans and designing test equipment Prepare and present to the production department an appropriate and correct file of production information within an agreed time-scale. File includes drawings, bills of material, specification and test documents as necessary Experience and abilities required: Minimum 5 years R&D experience is essential with experience in Analogue & Digital Electronics desirable Knowledge in schematic capture Experience of CAD package, e.g. Altium or Solidworks PCB Experience of Ethernet interface and serial comm protocol Experience of power supply design, Embedded systems design & Pneumatics Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent work experience Experience of Power Supply Design, Embedded Systems Design, Pneumatics & Hazardous Areas This is a permanent full time position working 37.5 hours per week. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Benefits of Employment Holidays 25 days holiday per annum, increasing to 27 days per annum after 5 years service. 3 days to be used for Company Christmas Closure. Pension 5% employee contribution, 3 % employer contribution rising to 5% after successful completion of probationary period. Annual Pay Review Reviewed annually and is subject to personal performance and Cost of Living adjustments. Sick Pay After six months service, the Company will pay basic salary in full for two weeks which increases with service.
