Overview

Duties: Preserve the security integrity of the grounds buildings by locking and unlocking entrances, patrolling and monitoring third party lettings. Carrying out day-to-day duties according to the school's daily schedule i.e.: litter picking, sweeping and refreshing the toilets. Carry out defined planned preventative maintenance responsibilities in accordance with each school's schedule / individual skills. Reactive Duties: Carry out initial investigations into reactive requests made throughout the day relating to any deficiencies in the on site buildings and making temporary and permanent repairs. If this is not possible, always notifying management of the need to call in a service provider in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales. Respond to any emergency situations such as bodily fluids and floods and effecting temporary / permanent ratifications' accordance with procedures and timescales. Respond to requests for collection of parcels, the movement of furniture, rearrangement of rooms etc in accordance with procedures and timescales Have an open eye for health and safety issues and ensure any identified issues are rectified, made safe and reported to management at the earliest opportunity. General Duties: When appropriate, provide access, escort and liaise with and assist service providers on site where they may be undertaking remedial work or planned prevented maintenance. Conduct minor repairs or decorative work. Assist in the deep cleaning and general cleaning activities when needed. Having a proactive manner to notice deficiencies in the facilities and either rectify them (when capable of doing so) or bringing the defect to the attention of management. Any other duties assigned by the management team that relate to maintaining the facilities and buildings in a clean, aesthetically pleasing and functional manner. Any other duties which you are skilled or qualified to undertake. Any other duties that are relevant to the school worked in. For example: swimming pool maintenance. To be flexible in working hours to cover colleagues absences due to sickness or annual leave Out of Hours: Be available for assisting with the premises outside of normal working hours, when agreed by the site manager. Assist with providing an out of hours emergency call out service. This will be in line with management instructions. Maintain all communication in the event of incidence to ensure the availability of the school accommodation and facilities are not unnecessarily compromised. PPM: Daily visual checks of BMS, boiler and hot water functioning. Monthly pest inspections. Weekly checks and clearing of drains, blockages and gullies. Visual checks of sports equipment weekly, including football, hockey posts, rugby, fixed gym equipment. Monthly meter readings. Monitoring electrical and gas consumption. Fire, safety and security checks. Weekly fire alarm point checks and weekly tests of the fire alarm system. Monthly test / discharge or emergency lights. Mechanical: Monthly checks to ensure the fire extinguishers have not been discharged (by picking them up). Conduct weekly gas / water meter readings. Weekly plant room checks. Plant changeover. Monthly changes and deep cleaning the shower heads. Painting and patch ups. Ensuring the door locks and closing devises work. Replacing / repairing or adjusting necessary equipment. Waste trap cleaning. Cleaning grease traps. Chemical treatment Other duties will be required as necessary The ideal candidate will have: A range of general 'handyman' skills such as DIY experience, minor plumbing, electrical work and carpentry. Fantastic customer service skills and an approachable personality. Ability to liaise with and assist external service providers. Working alone and as part of a team. Multi-tasking Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training sessions to develop one's own skills. To be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work.
