Residential Support Worker Nights - 4 on/4 off

Witherslack Group ,
Rugby, Warwickshire
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £9.94 per hour

Overview

The young people who live here sometimes wake up in the middle of the night, feeling ill, upset, or just unable to sleep. So to have someone like you there, who understands them and can make sure they’re alright, makes a massive difference. A lot of the young people here are teenage boys, who while like any other teenagers, can exhibit challenging behaviour. So will need your special type of empathy, compassion, strength and resilience. Although our homes are mixed gender, all our young people need role models – someone they can build a rapport with before going to bed. They might be anything from gamers, film buffs or football fanatics. Whatever they’re into, you’ll know how to talk to them on a level and build a relationship, so if they need help in the night, they’ll be comforted by your presence and you’ll know just how to meet their individual needs. About you We’re looking for the kind of person who gets along naturally with all kinds of people, but isn’t afraid to get stuck into a bit of cleaning and admin work during the quiet hours either. Not to mention doing the odd round to carry out building checks and keep the house safe. In short, it’s all about your sense of wanting to build a positive experience for our young people and give them the home they deserve in the best possible environment. Experience in a similar role would be advantageous, but we welcome applications from all kinds of backgrounds You’re keen to complete a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) within two years (if you don’t have it or its equivalent already) You have held a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months About us At Witherslack Group we are driven to provide the very best care and education for children and young people with complex, challenging needs. We have high staff-to-child ratios and in-house clinical teams, all contributing to our reputation for excellence and enhancing life opportunities. It’s important that the balance of genders in our homes' teams are representative of the young residents. Due to current legislation related to our residents’ needs, we currently require more male team members to balance our home in Rugby. However, we are always on the lookout for talented people, so would still love to hear from you if you’d be interested in a future role whatever your gender. Reward We know you’re going to do great things. We offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector: £1,000 per annum Attendance Incentive Scheme 35 days’ holiday (including Bank Holidays) 2 x basic salary life insurance We’ll cover the £6,000 cost of your qualification Health cash plan e.g. dental, optical and physiotherapy 24/7 counselling service Cycle to Work and tax free Childcare Vouchers The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people.
