CK Technical are currently recruiting for a C++ Software Developer to join a 2D animation start-up on a full time, permanent basis. Candidates based in/commutable from Sheffield will be considered, and candidates based in Manchester or remote workers may be considered dependent on experience level. The Company: Our client is a start-up born out of an established motion graphics and VFX studio with over 20 years' experience working alongside the world's biggest and best brands. The team has previously produced Oscar nominated software used daily by thousands in the animation and VFX industry. It's an exciting time to join the company, and they will consider candidates based in Sheffield, or alternatively those based in Manchester or even remote workers provided you are willing to travel on occasion to meet with the team (dependent upon experience). The company offers a salary of £25-40,000 pa depending on experience for the successful candidate who will have a keen interest and familiarity with the latest developments in the computer graphics industry, and is passionate about innovating and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in graphics and animation. The Role: Your main duties as a C++ Software Developer will be to: Assist in the development and maintenance of the company's new and hugely exciting 2D Animation Software. Work across the full product lifecycle, from initial fact finding through to design, development and beyond. Refactor and rewrite existing code to improve quality, reliability and maintainability. Proactively test new and existing functionality to ensure the highest levels of quality. Help with the writing of end-user documentation. Actively participate in team design discussions, sharing responsibilities and cultivate the adoption of best practices. Respond to support requests from high value customers. Your Background: The ideal candidate for this C++ Software Developer role will have the following skills and experience: Proven fluency in C++ gained in a hands-on role is an essential requirement. Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Comfortable working independently within a fast-paced, dynamic environment - essential. A keen eye for detail and quality - essential. A team player who is customer focused with a strong work ethic - essential. A passion for forging high end user experiences. The following are not essential requirements, but would be strongly preferred: Previous experience developing innovative and cutting-edge software solutions. Familiarity with OpenGL and shader writing, or more general graphics programming. Experience of working in film, game, or graphics software pipelines. Practical knowledge of multi-threading, SIMD or GpGPU software development. Knowledge of video codecs/transcoding.
