Join us a Support Worker (experienced or not) and you'll see why Outline You’ll be supporting Simon, a young man with a learning disability and autism living in his own flat, as he strives to lead a life that makes sense to him. Simon is full of energy and enjoys outside activities such as baseball, football, going on bike rides or going for long walks. He has a love of music, especially the 80's and loves dancing. He attends weekly music sessions and has even made a record. Recently Simon has learned to ski and would love someone who would be able to go on the slopes with him. Simon also enjoys trampolining, movies and going out for a curry. One day a week he needs supporting to the local horticulture centre where he works. Simon has communication difficulties and would benefit from someone who can use Makaton or is prepared to learn. Who are we? MacIntyre is an award-winning national charity supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. We use person centred approaches to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using Positive Behaviour Support strategies ensures we see the person first, not their behaviour or learning disability. Some more specifics Full time is 37.5 hours a week. If you are interested in part-time, please let us know on your application how many hours you could work and we'll discuss possibilities at interview You’ll be working shifts of 7am-2.30pm and from 2pm-9.30pmfive days a week, taking your turn on a rota which includes weekends. We could accommodate either one full-time or two part-time support workers. Simon has his own car so would prefer someone who can drive but not essential if you are happy to support Simon on public transport or riding his bike It would be helpful if you have experience working with people who have learning disabilities and/or autism, but not essential. We provide first class training and it’s more important you have the right personal qualities, such as enthusiasm, patience, resilience and a willingness to learn.
