Overview

Scope Chair Scope is the disability equality charity in England and Wales. They provide practical information and emotional support when it's most needed and campaign relentlessly to create a fairer society. Scope is currently two and a half years into an ambitious five-year strategy, ‘Everyday Equality’, and have made significant process. Since 2017, the charity made the decision to stop running regulated services and channel more resources and energy into bringing fairness, justice and equality to disabled people in Britain. Scope is seeking their new Chair to lead a talented Board of Trustees and work with its dynamic and experienced Executive Leadership team to help the charity to achieve its ambitious goals. The new Chair needs to bring the ability to advocate for disabled people in all contexts, and a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. We are looking for a leader who takes a collaborative and partnership-focused approach. You will need to be able to demonstrate well developed, effective and agile chairing skills and a track record of delivering strategic and sustainable change within an innovative organisational setting. Whilst Scope welcomes all applications from suitably qualified individuals, the Trustee Board has expressed a preference for the Chair to be a disabled person. Applications from those with lived experience of disability are also welcomed. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join Scope as Chair and in these uncertain and challenging times that we find ourselves in, the work of Scope will be even more important.
