Job Title: Support Worker/Personal Care Assistant Location: East Worthing Hourly rate: £10.00 Reference: BRR6915 Hours/shifts: 4.00pm-7.00pm on Tuesdays 8.30-9.30am on Fridays Extra hours may be available later on Summary • I am a 50 year old man living with my wife and dog in East Worthing • I have Huntingdon’s disease which affects my speech and movement • I use a mobility scooter • I enjoy dog walking and badminton • I need support to attend social activities and appointments e.g. day centre and possibly sailing in future. • Small amount of personal care required e.g. adjusting clothing after using the toilet, cutting up food, supervision when eating. • I require a driver with their own car as one of the main tasks initially will be to drive me to/from day centre. • You must also be friendly, reliable, punctual and trustworthy Other Requirements • Must have a UK driving licence • Must have access to own vehicle • Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Personal Care: • Assistance when using the toilet e.g. adjusting clothing, doing up belt etc • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, supervision when eating to prevent choking. Social: Driving to/from activities and appointments e.g. day centre, sailing. Person specification The successful applicant will be: • Friendly and cheerful • Comfortable with dogs • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality • Reliable with good time-keeping • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties • Patient and understanding • Honest and trustworthy • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
