Soft Landscape Technician Starting salary £22,182 per annum Based at Ashford Highways Depot 37 hours per week Permanent Full Time An exciting career opportunity has arisen for a suitably motivated and enthusiastic individual to play a key role within the Highways & Transportation Soft Landscape Team. This role is fundamental in supporting the Team in maintaining an excellent level of customer satisfaction and contract management to maintain and improve the highway landscape. The Landscape Technician will support Landscape Officers and help deliver all aspects of highway related landscape management. This includes management of landscape assets, contractor performance monitoring, re-active site visits, specifying and commissioning small works, customer service and identifying opportunities for improving the highway natural environment. You will have an interest and good understanding of the green environment, and ideally, a background in landscape maintenance or conservation with experience of applying this in practical situations. You may also have been involved in customer service, managing landscape contractors, contract monitoring and reporting on performance data. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be confident to deal appropriately with customers, councillors, contractors and stakeholders using the phone, at on site meetings or writing. You will have good computer literacy skills, be organised and accurate. You will be self-motivated and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience of using GIS will be beneficial, however, structured training and industry certification will be provided for all elements of this role. The position will be based in Ashford. However, the ability to work at other depots and travel independently and be flexible to work across the entire County will be a pre-requisite. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position.
