Overview

Role Overview Our client owns a number of property businesses that require efficient and effective financial oversight. Following a period of exceptional growth, they are looking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer who can oversee the financial, administrative and risk management aspects of the business. This is a magnificent opportunity for someone to become fully involved in the companys further expansion and would suit an individual with a high ambition for growth. The business at present relies heavily on equity, investment and development funding - of which our client is never short of opportunities. They are therefore in need of the right candidate to assist in growing their funding base, optimising this direction of travel and dealing with all related strategic decisions. The opportunity for profit participation and bonuses are also available for the right candidate. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will be able to demonstrate outstanding people skills and team leadership; have experience in securing funding, working with investor partners and banks; have a demonstrable track record of managing cash flow forecasts and P&L accounts; and have an exemplary work ethic. Primary Responsibilities To assist the CEO with raising capital through banks and outside investors to help foster growth and reach investment/goals for the business. To oversee, negotiate and agree the contractual negotiations for all investments. In conjunction with the Management Accountant, to oversee the business cash flow Taking account of liquidity and risk, to oversee the capital structure of the business and make recommendations for managing debt, equity and internal financing. To oversee the production of financial information required for external bodies, particularly when it relates to investments and acquisitions. To hold responsibility for all areas of financial compliance i.e. filing and HMRC payments. To input to strategy conversations particularly relating to profitability and cash flow. To take the lead on forecasting and budgeting. To make recommendations for cost saving when appropriate. To provide advice and expertise relating to tax efficiency. To secure appropriate external expertise for this when necessary and to cover (not exclusively) VAT, Capital Allowances, Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) and Corporation Tax as they pertain to the business. To appropriately analyse the company's financial position and performance, making recommendations and trouble-shooting as necessary. To ensure the regular reporting back to key stakeholders in the business, such as the board, major investors and banks. Maintaining an awareness of external trends, bank policy and political movement which could impact its core business. To design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures, particularly those which will drive sustainable growth. To promote a culture of communication within the business, leading by example. Core Competencies Proven track record and experience as a CFO or equivalent (within the property industry is an advantage). Experience in raising investment funds and working capital for businesses. Highly experienced in managing relationships with banks and investors. Ability to resolve conflict or problems when they arise, an adept trouble-shooter. Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development. Working knowledge of data analysis and performances/operation metrics. Working knowledge of IT/business infrastructure and MS office (working knowledge of Macs is preferable). Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Strong ability to influence others and negotiate effectively. Aptitude for high level decision making and problem solving. Qualifications and Experience Graduate or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) Experience of working for a property development company or within a property/sales environment an advantage Full UK Driving Licence .
