Paralegal Court of Protection - Basingstoke £23-32K (DOE) An excellent long term opportunity at a legal 100 firm and highly regarded COP team lead by a longstanding and top ranked partner. The firm have established offices across the UK as well as an international reach the court of protection team have a huge amount of experience and deal with challenging and interesting work. As Paralegal on the team you will work alongside and support experienced solicitors who advise individuals, their families, carers, trustees, beneficiaries and other professionals on a broad range of issues arising from catastrophic personal injury, including serious brain injury with high value compensation awards. The team support litigation lawyers throughout the conduct of the claim. The team work closely with the Court of Protection, the individual's and their family to ensure all decisions are made in their best interests. The work largely focuses on financial management but the team are also involved with matters of welfare such as care funding, benefits, deprivation of liberty, special education and generally issues relating to capacity. The work is often complex in its nature, time demanding but ultimately very rewarding requiring the support of a dedicated team in achieving successful outcomes for the individual. The role requires an experienced Paralegal with the following attributes: Prior experience acquired on a COP team Technical knowledge of Court of Protection matters. Ideally you will be fully conversant with OPG Deputyship standards An ability to effectively manage, organise and prioritise a busy workload Confidence with excellent all round communications skills Competence and good judgement, know when to seek advice on more technical matters Key responsibilities will included but not be limited to: Work closely with highly regarded COP lawyers prepare court applications, manage financial deputyship prepare annual reports (to the OPG) prepare and monitor annual budgets.
