Long Term Contract Available - 18 months Project Manager New Build Office project Role Purpose The Building Design Studio is Solihull MBC’s in-house design consultancy. Part of the Authority’s Resources Directorate. We provide a wide range of Architectural, Interior Design, Project Management, Structural & Civil Engineering and Quantity Surveying Services to the Council, it’s various Client Departments, Schools and other external Clients. The BDG currently have a strong bias toward Education and Commercial sector works and are also engaged to work in the following sectors; Libraries & Arts, Leisure, Social Services, Housing and Bereavement Services. The team utilises BIM (Building Information Modelling) level II practice and collaborative working protocols. The role of Project Manager will be to plan and manage the delivery of councils prestigious ‘21 Homer Road, Westgate’ commercial project delivering a 10,000m² Grade A office development within the town centre on behalf of the client team, stakeholders and design team, to manage the delivery of a SCAPE/Wates Construction using the NEC3 Option A, Design and Build Contract. This project involves a working from RIBA Stage 4-7 on a call-off basis It is the role of the Project Manager to manage the project on behalf of the Client to achieve the project objectives, milestones and deliverables. Role Responsibilities Responsible for day to day management of the project, oversee consultants, shape the contractor procurement process duties will conclude but not be limited to: 1. To manage and deliver day to day operational aspects of agreed projects and monthly reporting on actions and milestones; 2. To chair and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all relevant issues are raised and recorded; 3. Preparing regular progress reports for project sponsors / client; 4. Co-ordinate multi-disciplinary activities and inputs by the appointed design team; 5. Assist in Contractor Procurement / oversee contractor design and engagement on behalf of the Client; 6. Financial and budget management with Quantity Surveyor and reporting to Client; 7. Administer Change Control management; 8. Ensure that governance requirements are met including the identification and management of risk; 9. To maintain reliable and consistent communications with all members of project teams; 10. Prepare and submit information, as required, to inform Property Investment Board and Cabinet Reports; 11. To ensure that the Council’s rules for contracts and financial regulations are complied with at all times. 12. Utilise BS EN ISO 19650 BIM (Building Information Modelling) level II working practices. 13. To build strong internal and external working relationships to provide opportunities for knowledge transfer and technical challenge sessions. 14. Produce briefs and specifications for commissioning consultancy support and to support the procurement process. 15. Monitor appropriate consultant, supplier, contractor and other project costs against budgetary cost targets. 16. To ensure that any Authority equipment or property, which is within the post holder’s control, is maintained in reasonable condition 17. To undertake any other tasks or duties commensurate with the grade of the post.
