AL200: – Plant Mechanical Engineer Location: Barrow Upon Soar Salary: £34,538 Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently recruiting for a innovative and proactive individual for a fantastic opportunity as a Plant Mechanical Engineer. The Plant Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the servicing, maintaining and repairing of pallet conveying systems and automated pallet storage and retrieval cranes in a warehouse environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Servicing, maintaining, and fault finding on chain and roller conveyors. Servicing and maintenance of the automated warehouse conveying/crane system Servicing of automated forks Working at heights - Cranes, steel wire ropes and ladders Proactive approach to plant and organisational improvements. Be part of the on-call rota for out of hours support to the shift teams. Support the Projects team in the installation and implementation of projects. Deliver and support a culture of environmental, health and safety (EHS) excellence through achievement of EHS objectives. Skills and Qualifications: Be apprentice craft trained with a minimum BTEC ONC mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in this role Experienced engineer with logistics, FMCG manufacturing or warehousing experience Have experience of Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems, including pallet picking cranes, telescopic forks and pallet elevators Previously used Computerised Maintenance Management Systems to control and document engineering tasks Have the ability to identify, understand, resolve and sustain plant equipment demonstrating knowledge of Quick Kaizen, Route Cause Analysis, 5S and lean manufacturing techniques Have knowledge and understanding of technical engineering drawings Have experience in working at height; preferably with rack access and rack rescue experience Experience in risk assessment tools including ‘On the Job’ Risk assessments and ‘Task Based’ Risk Assessments Assist in writing and reviewing Standard Maintenance procedure, Standard Operating Procedure and One Point Lessons Proactively investigate failures or observations within the plant and generate ideas for focused improvements. Engage with the Engineering and Production teams to ensure that planned works are followed from take-over to hand back on time. During the works clear communication and adoption of safe practices with colleagues must be adhered to. Work collaboratively with the Day Craft and Shift Craft teams to share their knowledge on project activities and failure rectification to help build sustainable programmes. Communicate and agree if a failure/observation during routine maintenance can be repaired immediately or at a scheduled later date.
