Overview
Joining us as a Planning & Design Trainee, you will learn all about designing, costing and quoting projects for new electricity supplies and the replacement / diversion and reinforcement of existing electricity network assets. You will take part in detailed technical discussions with customers, architects, public authorities and landowners both over the phone and in person during site visits. In your first two years, you will also benefit from formal training that includes vocational and academic courses. This is complemented by on-the-job, managed experience where you can put your new skills into practice. On successful completion of the scheme (if not already achieved), you will hold a foundation degree in Electrical Engineering, and be a capable Network Planner with the skills essential to making robust decisions and successfully delivering essential works. You will study for the foundation degree at Aston University and so you will be required to undertake placements in Birmingham for up to 2 weeks at a time during the first 2 years. Accommodation and travel costs will be provided. The Ideal Candidate You must hold or be predicted to achieve: A’ Levels in Maths (Grade A-C) and Physics (Grade A - D) or HNC/HND or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Degree in Maths or Physics We are looking for candidates who are personable, approachable and have a solid understanding of engineering and financial matters.
