VACANCY : CENTRAL FINANCE OFFICER (FTE 0.8) Charlie Goldsmith Associates (CGA) is a UK-registered international development Consultancy working to support the poorest in fragile, conflict-affected, low-income and/or remote places, to get sustainable access to cash, services and control over their own future. The systems we build, and the support we provide, helps information flow, to provide assurance, and enable cash to move accurately, and directly, to the lowest effective level. CGA was recently acquired by Lutheran World Relief and IMA World Health. CGA continues to operate autonomously but draws on additional management and leadership and resources. This partnership will lead to new opportunities that combine our expertise and networks to help reduce poverty and support human development in tough places LOCATION: Base location is flexible but would ideally be somewhere where other CGA or LWR/IMA colleagues are based. There are some advantages to base location being London/UK. Remote working is possible. MAIN PURPOSE: In the last seven years we have grown four-fold; there are more than sixty of us, the majority from the Global South and Diaspora. We are currently working in Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Somalia, Malawi, Rwanda and Kenya, with more anticipated in the coming year. To provide strong support and ensure that our financial systems and processes are robust, we are looking for an experienced Central Finance Officer, with specific tasks and responsibilities including: SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Working closely with FC, CFO and country office teams Confirm adherence to financial and admin processes and procedures Checking Invoices/and seeking approval for payment Processing payments & payment vouchers Posting transactions into financial system Ensuring that financial transactions are properly updated and recorded Raising milestone invoices in line with contract Raising all other invoices when necessary Provision of supporting information for preparation of financial reports Maintenance of online and hard copy filing systems (central) Collation and posting of expense and timesheets Preparation and running of company payroll through payroll software Cash reporting including day to day AP controls Preparation of supporting information for Audit/Year end and Management Accounts Project accounting and reporting Ensuring regular downloads, collation and filing of all bank statements Assisting in the preparation of the Yearly budget Assisting in the preparation of financial proposal and budget submissions for contract bids Assisting in the preparation of required data/reports for ongoing contracts Preparation of Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Forecasts Completion of Monthly Bank, Creditor, Debtor and other Control Account Reconciliations Conduct monthly financial analysis to identify and resolve variances Any other financial/ admin tasks as needed SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong organisational skills with attention to detail Detailed understanding and experience of working with UK GAAP Ability to learn complex issues quickly Enthusiastic, responsive and a flexible working style Solutions based, with supportive attitude Developed communication skills EXPERIENCE Strong administrative and co-ordination experience Experience in financial and accounting work, preferably with an international or decentralised organisation Experience running payroll Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint Proficiency in XERO and SAGE50 (desirable) QUALIFICATIONS Will consider: Qualified AAT or equivalent Part qualified CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent Strong level of qualification by experience If you think you could meet these challenges, and would like to be part of a friendly and empowered team that works hard and fast, please send a CV of four pages or fewer, and a well written two page cover letter, about why you want to do the job you are applying for, and summarising evidence of how you meet the specific requirements.
