Who is the Durnford Society? The Durnford Society provides supported living, domiciliary care and residential care services to adults with learning disabilities. Established 40 years ago, our aim is to help the individuals we support to live their lives as they wish and achieve their full potential. We’re now looking for a number of caring individuals to join us as Support Workers on a full-time or part-time basis. You’ll undertake comprehensive training covering person-centred planning, duty of care, nutrition, first aid, health and safety and safeguarding, as well as a number of other subjects. Through your own personal development programme, you’ll also be supported to gain valuable industry qualifications and complete further training on specific subjects, depending on your role and interests. What will I be doing? As a Support Worker, you will provide a high level of support to individuals, either in their own homes or within one of our registered care homes. Working at a site in the Plymouth area, you’ll join a team of skilled and long-serving colleagues who enjoy excellent service conditions and provide first-class care and support. What do I need to join the team? While no experience is required, to join us as a Support Worker, you’ll need: - A full, valid driving licence - To be supportive and compassionate - A positive attitude - The patience to help individuals achieve tasks at their own pace - To be a good enabler and listener A Diploma or NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) would be beneficial. Flexibility regarding shift options would also be an advantage. Other organisations may call this role Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Residential Care Assistant, or Care Home Assistant. This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis, working days, waking nights or bank hours.
