We’re looking for a Support Worker to join us on a part-time basis to support a young man with a brain injury in the Barnstaple area. The Benefits - Salary of £12.00 - £14.00 per hour - Full, extensive training - Work directly for the end client and not an agency - Make a positive, lasting difference to a person’s life - Statutory benefits and holiday The Role As a Support Worker, you will provide high-quality support to our client, a young man with a brain injury, living in his own home in Barnstaple with a small friendly dog. Primarily, you will motivate him and support his memory and planning. As he is able to manage all his own personal care, you will support his health and wellbeing, reminding him to attend any appointments or social engagements, take medication and eat healthily. He requires some assistance walking outdoors and you will also participate in activities such as going to the gym, swimming, cycling, home maintenance tasks and DIY. The client has two young children who do not live with him, but he does see them several times a week and will need support with access visits for them. He enjoys socialising in the local community, owns a small, friendly dog and is generally amenable and friendly but can become het up at times. You will encourage and motivate him to live independently and lead a sociable, active and full life. About You To be considered as a Support Worker, you’ll need: - Previous experience of working in similar support worker role - Excellent communication skills - A full, valid driving licence Ideally, you will have an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in care, but this is not essential. This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service. Other organisations may call this role Care Worker, Healthcare Worker, Healthcare Co-ordinator, Care Co-ordinator, Social Care Worker, Care Assistant, or Healthcare Assistant. This is a part-time position working 43.5 hours over a two week period, with the following shift patterns: Week One: Thursday and Friday 9:30am - 6pm, Sunday 10am – 4pm Week Two: Friday 9:30am – 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am – 4pm The closing date for this role is the 1st April 2020.
