Overview
Job purpose Initially to work on our trunk road re-alignment scheme in Stevenage, reporting to the Project Manager, you will: To assist the site team in the management of projects from contract award through to completion; reporting to either a Site Agent or Project Manager depending on the complexity of the project. To assist in the successful and timely completion of projects for Interserve by applying the quality, health, safety, environmental, sustainability and Lean procedures of the business, whilst maintaining and improving client relationships and working with the team to achieve financial success of the project. Managing the Creating Test and Inspection Plans. Managing the completion of quality documentation. Developing RAMS for Interserve operations. Managing the permits. Carrying out project safety inspections, reporting and recording of near misses, and making recommendations for improvement. Responsibilities Preparation, monitoring and implementation of Quality planning and controls to ensure project compliance with the Specification and the Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability Company Policies; Assist in the preparation of the PMP (quality/health and safety/Environmental) for live projects; Undertake the responsibilities assigned within the contract PMP; Preparation of requisitions for plant and materials within tender allowances including taking off quantities; Management of and/or assistance to site Engineers, ensuring effective delegation of tasks (e.g. quality checks and setting out) to team members; Methodology selection and preparation and completion of Method Statements, Risk and COSHH Assessments, and permits to work; Monitoring implementation of procedures on site and reporting non conformance; Manage and maintain records of work done and site activities including as built records, diaries and allocation sheets; Maintain and develop client relationships; Undertake temporary works planning and checking and lift plans in accordance with company procedures when suitably trained; Actively mentor and develop Site Engineers, graduates and trainees; To carry out safety inspections and deliver Site Inductions. Knowledge skills & experience CITB Level 3 Safety Course SMSTS (5 day); Appropriate CSCS card; Professional qualification (Desirable); Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (Desirable); Knowledge and understanding of NEC Conditions of Contract; First Aid at Work (4 day); CPD evidence of relevant post graduate practical training e.g. attendance on courses for Forms of Contract, Scaffolding Appreciation, Formwork/Falsework Appreciation, Concrete Technology, H&S Management, e.t.c. (Desirable); Appointed person and Temporary Works Co-ordinator (Desirable); Behavioural safety training (Desirable); CPCS Supervisors card (Cranes/Lifting) (Desirable); New Roads and Streetworks supervisor (Desirable); Scaffold safety awareness (Desirable); Training in Lean principles (Desirable); CAT and Genny training (Desirable); Has held a similar position with a Civil Engineering Contractor for a sustained period; Experience of working within the highways sector and on bridges, temporary works (Desirable); Experience in earthworks, piling, steel structures, in-situ concrete, retaining walls; Proven experience from engineering background demonstrating progress to Sub Agent; Experienced in Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint; Produce As-built records and drawings; Experienced in supervision of other engineers; Knowledge of BIM (Desirable); Knowledge of programme planning sequencing and updates (Microsoft Project) (Desirable); AutoCAD – as built drawings, bespoke site sketches (Desirable); Specification for Highway works.
