Overview

The joint Islington and Camden Cemetery Service, based at St Pancras and Islington Cemetery in East Finchley, are now recruiting for a Bereavement Services Officer. We need a flexible and well-rounded person who is committed to providing the highest level of service and care to the bereaved and who wants to take advantage of the service's commitment to on-going training and career development. The role will be cross focused to incorporate the main cemetery administration as well as dealing with memorial requirements for bereaved families and any associated memorial administration. Dealing directly with the bereaved and colleagues within the industry such as funeral directors you will be responsible for seeing this process through from beginning to end. We are looking for someone to be an integral part of the team in developing the business. The main abilities you must have to succeed in this post are to be able to work on your own initiative in an extremely busy cemetery and crematorium office, as well as being able to work as part of a small team. Due to the busy nature of the environment strong administrative skills are required. You must be customer focused and be able to deal with members of the public in a polite and sympathetic manner through all methods of communication. The site is over 190 acres and as such a driving licence will be essential. The basic working week is 35 hours on a 9.00 to 5.00 basis Monday to Friday. You must have an enhanced DBS via the update services or a 3rd party DBS issued within the last 6 months
