Application Performance Engineer Location: Cambridge Salary: Competitive bonus package Your new company Our client is the leading global provider of energy-efficient processor designs that are enabling the intelligence in 100 billion silicon chips and securely powering products from the sensor to the Smartphone to the supercomputer. Your new job in Cambridge You as the Performance Engineer will be a key contributor in solving complex performance issues, influencing and implementing improvements in our design workflows. We are looking for someone with a background in performance engineering to complement the existing skills of the group. You will play a lead role in ensuring that our cluster platform configuration aids our internal customers. The engineering compute environment can be broadly categorised into: High performance, large scale compute servers used en masse by engineering processes, run as a set of clusters. These clusters being controlled via job scheduling tools such as LSF or build farms such as Jenkins for both interactive and batch work. High availability application servers used to run supporting processes such as databases, ALM tools, etc. Large scale, enterprise class Network Attached Storage (NAS) infrastructure used to service the above What you'll need to succeed Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field or comparable work experience is required. In-depth knowledge of HPC systems, cluster management, high performance NAS solutions, provisioning tools, and job schedulers. In-depth knowledge of Linux and the various distributions: RedHat, Debian, etc. In-depth experience with programming languages like Bash, Perl, Python, etc. In-depth experience with debug, observability and frameworks like BPF, perf, DTrace, etc. Experience with cluster batch job schedulers (LSF, RTDA, PBS, Slurm, Grid Engine, etc.) is required. Experience with performance testing, methodology and benchmarking tools is required. Experience with EDA (Electronic Design Automation) software is desirable but not essential.
