Overview

Here at The Richmond Fellowship Scotland we are currently looking to recruit Support Practitioners due to the acquisition of new services in the Stepps/Cumbernauld area. Applicants must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle. Due to the specific requests and intimate personal care requirements of the role, we are looking exclusively for female applicants at this time. Our Support Practitioners are fully trained by our excellent and award-winning learning & development team prior to starting, which initially consists of three classroom-based sessions at our Cambuslang office as well as the opportunity to shadow current Support Practitioners in their day-to-day role. After this initial training there will always be opportunities to further your learning during your time with TRFS. As such, to apply for this vacancy you would require no previous experience in the care sector. The Richmond Fellowship Scotland provides personalised and outcome-focused support to over 2800 individuals either in their own homes, shared accommodation or care home environments across Scotland, making us the country`s largest provider of social care. We support individuals with a variety of different needs such as physical and/or learning disabilities, mental health, alcohol or substance abuse and autism. Some of the people we support can present challenging behaviour or require a high level of personal care. We can offer either Full-Time (35 hours), Part-Time (Various hours) or Bank (Ad Hoc) contracts depending on our requirements at the time. As a Support Practitioner you could be expected to work weekends, shift patterns and slee povers if required. Your responsibilities will depend on the needs of the individuals that you support and can include: -Social Support- Getting to know an individual`s interests and hobbies and helping them to connect these interests within their local communities. This could include spending time in local clubs and community centres as well as leisure activities like swimming, bowling and visiting the cinema. -Health Support- Administering and monitoring medication. -Personal Care- Assist people to maintain their wellbeing by promoting their personal care which may include assistance with showering/bathing, dressing, arranging visits with professionals such as dentists, doctors or opticians, assisting with incontinence care where necessary. -Practical Support- Helping people to maintain their tenancy by encouraging daily household tasks such as general housework, laundry, ironing, cooking, shopping. -Budgetary Support- Paying bills, attending meetings with the bank or relevant authorities, potentially handling an individual`s income. -Additionally, you will be expected to maintain accurate financial and medical records as well as evidencing good practice through recording daily progress towards outcomes and goals.
