Job Title: Locomotive Service Engineer Location: Newton Heath, Manchester Duration: Permanent Shifts: Nights The key responsibility of the Service Engineer is to maintain, diagnose and repair powertrain equipment for passenger rail trains and all related products covered by the company. Responsibilities include: Work as part of the service team reporting directly to the Service Manager. Carry out service and repair work on depot as a resident engineer. Carry out fault diagnosis on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic systems on Rail Vehicles, additional training will be given as required. A basic working week will be Monday to Friday, working no less than 8 hours and no more than 12 hours per night shift. You will be required to work alternative weekends on call, days will also be worked if reasonably requested and not for more than two weeks in any quarter. There will be a requirement to undertake individual Customers Depot Induction Training to understand safe working practices in a Rail Depot Environment. Requirements: Good working Knowledge of Cummins, MTU, Voith and ZF, although full training on fault diagnosis will be given on each vehicle application. Good working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic and cooling systems. Good communication skills/customer facing. Able to work to approved instructions. Able to work on own initiative. Must own comprehensive tool kit, some special tools and diagnostic equipment will be provided.
