Overview

Multi-skilled Engineer Location Greenford/Hayes £35,000-£40,000 Job Purpose: To be part of a multi skilled team driving the performance of the business assets, ensuring maximum production uptime, whilst performing to high health and safety standards. Complete tasks and continuous improvement activities allocated to them in a timely and cost effective manner. Ensure PPM schedules are delivered on time and in full. Ensure that legislative requirements are maintained during work activities and tasks. Advocate and help to deliver the engineering strategy developed by the team. Main Responsibilities: Follow a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule for all plant and equipment. Ensure that all tasks carried out within the PPM schedule are documented including activity, repairs, equipment status and the use of consumables and parts. Promptly respond to any plant or equipment breakdown or fault. Effectively communicate and escalate any fault, damage or condition that cannot be rectified. Carry out PPMs and repairs in a safe and hygienic manner as stated within the company Quality Management System ensuring that operational efficiencies are not adversely affected. Participate in the commissioning of new machinery and plant. Ensure that all engineering documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner Ensure that tools, toolbox contents and parts and consumables are documented into and out of any food handling area. Ensure that any parts used are recorded to ensure that a minimum stock list is maintained. Work alongside and liaise with service contractors. Manage any secure systems including passwords. Mentor and assist trainee engineers. Hygiene & Food Safety: Comply with the company personal hygiene and food safety requirements and all company policies and procedures. Health & Safety: To ensure that machine and plant is safely isolated or made safe as appropriate. Promote a safe working environment by following best practice at all times. Participate in regular inspections of the workplace. Play an active part in risk assessments. Comply with legislative requirements when working on plant and equipment Communication: Communicate the status of all plant and equipment following PPM's or breakdown actions. Liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers at a technical level effetely communicating any concerns or queries. Administrative Duties Ensure that all PPMs and breakdowns are accurately logged. Ensure that any parts or consumables used are logged. Ensure that paperwork is correct and up to date Skills and Experience At least two years of experience within a similar role gained in a high volume, fast paced, manufacturing environment, ideally within the food industry. Excellent knowledge of label application machines, flow wrappers, baggers and multi head weighers. Good communication skills to deal with internal and external customers at the appropriate technical level. Experience of refrigeration, hydraulics, beneficial but not essential. Experience of working with 3 phase, inverters, motors, compressors, condensers, DC current, abrasive wheels, PLC's and PPMs. Knowledge of MS Office and Piranha CMM system advantageous. Qualifications and Certificates: A mechanical and electrical engineering qualifications to HNC level or equivalent. IOSH or higher advantageous.
