Production Engineer (Precision Engineering Manufacturing) Lewes – East Sussex £30,000 - £36,000 Profit Share 5% Employers Contributory Pension 29 Days Holiday On-Site Free Parking Benefits Monday to Friday Day Shift With an Early Friday Finish Production Engineer needed by a low volume precision manufacturing business. You will get the opportunity to constructively influence design decisions and production methods. The Manufacturing Engineer will improve manufacturing process to take the already successful business to the next level. This is a key role that will suit those with an interest in manufacturing and production engineering within a challenging, collaborative and supportive precision manufacturing environment. The Production Engineer role: Developing and improving processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective manufacture of products. This will include the management of build and test instructions for the shop floor and the migration of these into the ERP system. Assisting in the resolution of quality issues through the structured application of problem solving and root cause analysis techniques (8D, 5y, PDCA etc) Creation of BOM, tooling and routing detail on ERP system. Leading and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives. Supporting regulatory / financial audits and upkeep the QMS to ensure compliance with ISO9001. The Production Engineer: Minimum HNC / HND or equivalent in a mechanical, engineering or manufacturing discipline. A Manufacturing / Production engineering background including dealing with precision machining methods (turning / milling / sheet metal) and experience with both CNC and manual machines. (you may not be expected to program or machine as part of the role, but an understanding of these processes is essential) A good understanding of LEAN / 6 Sigma and CI tools and techniques (5s, PDCA, DMAIC, Poka-Yoke, Continuous flow, Kaizen etc) Green or other belt / formal training would be a distinct advantage. Experience of using and managing an MRP / ERP system whilst working in a fast-paced process driven manufacturing environment. Able to read engineering drawings and a full understanding of inspection processes such as first article inspection and the use of measurement equipment such as gauges, vernier, CMM, trimos etc
