Frontend Developer (JavaScript/Node.js) - London £65 to £70k My client a leading news publisher is looking for a Frontend Developer with an interest in working across the full stack. You will join a small, agile development team that supports their editorial titles by undertaking quick, tactical changes to their publishing systems and digital products. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for will have experience with frontend technologies, with an interest in working across the full stack You will have experience working collaboratively within a web development team with a non-hierarchical structure, be self-directed and happy to work on your own initiative. They look after things like: Acquisition of users through search and social optimisation Features that encourage users to engage and move around their products Features that increase loyalty, such as email newsletters, registration, commenting and competitions Tracking and understanding user journeys across multiple visits, from discovery to loyalty Optimising the promotion of features that drive engagement and loyalty They are looking for people who care deeply about the code they write while at the same time are able to bridge the gap between the technical and the business areas of the company effectively. They want people who look farther than the technical aspects of the work and care deeply about the human aspect of their products. You will be responsible for designing, testing and implementing improvements to their news products, and the work you do there will ultimately be consumed by millions of people. Some other things that we would like in a candidate (you don't have to check all to apply) Experience with frontend technologies - HTML, CSS and preprocessors, templating, client-side JavaScript (including frameworks) Development experience (they use mainly use NodeJs and Javascript) Familiarity with Database (they use mainly DynamoDB, PostgreSQL and MySQL) Familiarity with automated testing at different parts of the test pyramid An understanding of HTTP, caching and how the web works Optimising performance to scale to handle large quantities of content data and high volumes of traffic across numerous websites Can-do, positive attitude, proactive approach to problem solving Java experience would be a plus Happy to learn new technologies Important Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
