Overview

Rutherford Briant are exclusively recruiting a Sales Manager for a Global Manufacturing/Engineering Business based in Colchester. My client has recently been acquired by a European company and as a result of internal succession planning are looking to hire for this newly appointed position. The Group company is looking to grow the UK site and this role is key in the future strategy. The position on offer encompasses all the key aspects of a technical sales role from initial contact through to installation. Personal Specification: Someone with a sales background in the engineering sector who has a passion for success Good Organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team Analytical and problem-solving skills, alongside excellent IT competence level Sales skills Commercial awareness, sound judgement and good business sense Ability to build relationships quickly and effectively Ability to work alone and on own initiative Ability to explain design ideas and plans clearly Confident decision-making ability Ability to work within budgets and to deadlines Key Duties to include: Identifying and establishing new business, generating leads Organising sales visits Liaising with existing clients Liaising with and taking leads from parent company sales team Preparing tenders, proposals and quotations Providing pre-sales and post-sales support Negotiating contracts, terms and conditions Reviewing cost and sales performance Writing reports and sales literature Providing product education and advice Attending trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings Agree, monitor and ensure sales targets are met. Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects Interact regularly with clients to interpret needs and requirements. Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans) and report regularly on project status Cooperate and communicate effectively with all staff and project participants, providing assistance and technical support Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions Assist with installations, commissioning and customer training The ideal candidate will have a proven background in sales within a technical engineering environment. This role will develop with time and be a key position to assist in the company’s growth. There may also be some requirement to travel overseas.
