Overview

As a Traffic Control Center Operator, you will monitor and intervene to manage delays on the road network and ensure accurate, timely travel information is provided to all relevant organisations. You will handle two-way data exchange with the Highways England Regional and National Traffic Control Centers and provide on-street information through variable message signs in response to incidents or special events. Key Responsibilities: Monitor road network for congestion and incidents using Stratos and associated systems Implement pre-defined Stratos plans and log responses to incidents Liaise with emergency services, Highways England (regional and national traffic control centres), works partners and other relevant parties to provide co-ordinated incident response Provide feedback on improvements to Stratos strategies Handle the two-way data exchange with the Highways England Regional and National Traffic Control Centres Provide on-street information through Variable message signs in response to incidents or special events. Provide accurate, timely information to the public, media, ECC members and senior officers via e-mail alerts, reports, twitter, radio broadcasts etc. Qualifications and Skills: A-level or equivalent qualification Practical experience of traffic control or IT systems Knowledge of relevant local government procedures Good Communication and inter-personal skills Good general IT skills Problem solving judgement and analytical skills
